Danish paper in trouble over Mohammed cartoons

mohammed cartoon
From the BBC: cartoonists for a Danish newspaper have received death threats for drawing cartoons of Mohammed. The newspaper Jyllands-Posten urged cartoonists to send in drawings of the prophet after an author had complained that nobody dared illustrate his book on Mohammed.

Twelve cartoonists responded, and their work was published in the daily paper. First, an Imam demanded an apology. The newspaper was forced to hire security guards to protect staff. A group calling themselves “The Glory Brigades of Northern Europe” starting putting threatening collages on the internet. Then, as the BBC reports, ambassadors from 10 Muslim countries complained to the Danish prime minister.

Apparently Islam forbids the pictorial representation of the prophet. That means that Muslims shouldn’t draw him… doesn’t it?

The twelve cartoons are available here, for your viewing pleasure.

Here are a few facts we should remember. However offensive any of the 12 cartoons were, they did not incite violence against Muslims. For an example of incitement, though, one must go back a few weeks before the cartoons were published. In August, the Danish authorities withdrew for three months the broadcasting license of a Copenhagen radio station after it called for the extermination of Muslims. Those were real threats and the government protected Muslims – the same government later condemned for not punishing the newspaper that published the cartoons.

Second, the cartoon incident belongs at the very center of the kind of debate that Muslims must have in the European countries where they live – particularly after the Madrid train bombings of 2003 and the London subway bombings of 2005. While right-wing anti-immigration groups whip up Islamophobia in Denmark, Muslim communities wallow in denial over the increasing role of their own extremists.

As just one example, last August Fadi Abdullatif, the spokesman for the Danish branch of the militant Hizb-ut-Tahrir organization, was charged with calling for the killing of members of the Danish government. He distributed leaflets calling on Muslims in Denmark to go to Fallujah in Iraq and fight the Americans, and to kill their own leaders if they obstructed them. Police in Denmark have been on alert since the London bombings, after which at least three extremist Web sites warned that Denmark could be the next target. There are 500 Danish troops working alongside American and British troops in Iraq.

Not only does Hizb-ut-Tahrir, an organization banned in many Muslim countries, have a branch in Denmark, but Abdullatif has a history of calling for violence that he then justifies by referring to freedom of speech – the very notion the Danish newspaper made use of to publish the cartoons. In October 2002, Abdullatif was found guilty of distributing racist propaganda after Hizb-ut-Tahrir handed out leaflets that made threats against Jews by citing verses from the Koran. He was given a 60-day suspended sentence.

Abdullatif used the Koran to justify incitement to violence! And we still wonder why people associate Islam with violence?

Muslims must honestly examine why there is such a huge gap between the way we imagine Islam and our prophet, and the way both are seen by others. Our offended sensibilities must not be limited to the Danish newspaper or the cartoonist, but to those like Fadi Abdullatif whose actions should be regarded as just as offensive to Islam and to our reverence for the prophet. Otherwise, we are all responsible for those Danish cartoons.

Maybe you’d serve your cause a lot better if you did a little less shouting and a little more thinking.

Oky first I’ll say that I didn’t write the above statement but it’s still facts about what’s has been going on in Denmark..

I’m Danish and what we in Denmark call a everyday Christian.

I fell a lot of you guys in here are way of about the whole thing… Not only talking about Muslims, also you Christians.. This has nothing to do with religious propaganda from Jyllandsposten.. JP did something for getting a debate going in Denmark about how we have to change our views on Muslims to thinking of them more as integrated danish individuals with fellings and being more open, then thinking of them as suicidebombers, an that got international attention because they did it at the wrong time(War in Iraq)And it didn’t help that this Christian Magazine in Norway used one of the pictures for some sort of propaganda and because of that fact, it’s more a questions about culturel differences.. And I’m pretty sure a lot will continue writing that Western people, infidels, pigs or whatever you like to call us have low or no morals.. But You forget something in here, Jyllandsposten has done a lot of good things for bringing the new “western european” closer to the Danish people.. And that they try to do there best to tell the fact as they are!!

And because of this debate everything is getting worse.. Not for Denmark but for everybody.. I don’t care that Saudi Arabia is boycotting Denmark, but what I do mind is that the Boycot makes the people working for Arla jobless and unable to pay for their monthly payments, plus it’s give more power to the people who shouldn’t have any power at all (Dansk Folkeparti) But hey who care that innocent people gets involved in something that has been totally misunderstood by so many people..

I’m am sorry for all the muslims how fell angry and I apologise for the misunderstanding but you see, you can’t make Jyllandsposten apologise for something they didn’t do… They can only say sorry for the misunderstanding which they did, not only to Saudi, but all muslims..

As a cartoonist myself I’m sure that the pictures that the cartoonists did, did’t represent Mohammed in that sence of portraying him, they represented how the cartoonists fell about the picture they have of the everyday muslim.. because in Denmark noone would have been able to relate to the pictures if it wasn’t the case.

Hope you all out the one day will open your eyes and see not everything is black and white in this world..

btw.. Who here said that the muslims where stupid?? don’t have to mention 0123456789 etc. everybody knows that you guys are not stupid.. or at least sane people knows!!! But hey if you want to be stronger and better you have to steal other peolpe ideas and build on them.. also called science 🙂

    greeting from a confussed Dane

    Hi,

Why danish people want to burn the holy quran ?

Human should respect the other Human’s feelings.

Imagine a tree with no fruits. You will not waste your time in throwing stones on it.

our islam is a big tree full of delicious fruits, cultures, civilisations …. etc, so we should expect the stones from any where .

    My Love,
    Muslim

  5. Muslim says:

    Hi,

Why danish people want to burn the Holy Quran?

Imagine a tree with no fruits. I am sure no one will look at it or throw stones on it.

Our Islam is a big tree full of cultures, civilisations, achievements etc…

So we have to expect stones from every where ..

But no fruits will be dropped down from our tree.

    Love
    Muslim

  6. David says:

No Danish people want to burn the Quran. But millions of Muslims want to burn Danish newspapers and
murder Danish people…in response to a few lines printed on a piece of paper.

It is quite ironic that Muslims get so angry about being called violent, vengeful and murderous…that they
respond by demanding violence, murder and revenge!

As for hatred based on religion…I am Jewish. Admit it, all you Muslims hate me just for my race and religion,
and for no other reason. So what is so surprising when Muslims are hated NOT for their religion, but for their insane,
psychotic love of revenge and violence?

how come you fundamental muslims allways talk about respect. We in the western world hear every day hatered thoward our values
and life style. You ask for respect but you (often) don´t give any.
Let us life the way we want to in our own counties. If you don´t like it, why don´t you leave then? No one of us will
    loose a tear about it.

(see a good comment from “Vahid” Nr. 11)

And by the way: most of the drug dealers and pushers in our cities are the same “muslims” that bitched about our lifestyle.

i do not hava a problem with someone because he belongs to some religion, he/she can think, say, and express what ever he/she wants to.

If I dont like it I laugth about it, ignore it, or express my view to it.(like now)

Those are our values, and none of your Islam fanatics (wich is about the same as Fashists) respect those.
We faught for our freedom in our counties for many centuries in our own countries. And WE WILL NOT give them up.

All that you oh so “tolerant” fanatics spread is hatered.
I can feel it on myself, I feel how sometimes bad thoughts come up in my mind, but I will do my best to fight those bad thaugths.
Because if I don´t, and I will also become full of hatered, they would have won.

So please to all people of all kinds of groups religions or what ever, don´t let your self get infectedt with hatered.

    Peace to all……

    life and let life….

Anybody who’s read till here will know there are extremists amongst us on all sides, yet there are also encouragingly voices of moderation and reason and it is these voices that must prevail.

Extremists are always the most vocal and its a tragedy that muslims in particular have allowed them to hijack their agenda. There must be a realization that extremism will give rise to extremism and that can only lead to chaos. They must return the religion to the middleground and look for coexistance in the world.

Religious extremists have one agenda, control of every aspect of your life, that is their kick in life, not religion, not compassion, not doing the right thing, not morality, they only seek control by creating and perpetuating a siege mentality.

As humans we must look back at our past and realise the tremendous progress made so far thats the most important purpose for us and generations to come.

All thinking individual must take responsibility to ensure extremists don’t prevail. that’s bad for you personally and for everyone else.

  13. Rafi Khan says:

Please ; Dont blame Islam for some barbaric acts done by a few fanatics. I am very happy for what is going on coz West will atleast try to know islam and noone can deny that its a true religion, which teaches love for everyone.

For these cartoons, its not going to affect our prophets ( peace be upon him ) image. If only the non believers of islam try to find more about our beloved prophet, they will change their minds and convert to Islam.

Islam will prevail , no matter what happens. Justice will be done for the ones making fun of Islam.

  14. mikael says:

Well this is getting really interesting. Where and how will this stop? The pictures are being published all over the world by now. I guess life will become rather difficult for people in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere if they intend to boycott the rest of the world.

  15. John Booth says:

I have never read so much illiterate and abusive comment. If this is the way muslims spread their faith, we have much to fear. I did follow the link to look at the cartoons and I cannot see why muslims should be so upset. As a Christian, I have seen worse addressed at my religion and I am sure that Jews have suffered much more. The reason why we defend freedom of speech is that it is the best protection against even greater wrongs. Look at countries where freedom of speech is restricted and you find real abuses thrive. Cartoons do not torture and kill people.

  18. Do I get a fatwah for this? says:

At the end of the day, if your religion is worth following, it can stand up to some criticism and people poking fun at it. Why does everything have to be so serious?

“Oh noes!!! He insulted my beliefs, now he’s gotta die!!!” Puhlease… get a grip! I know you fundamentalists (of all religions) don’t believe that people’s beliefs should change over time, that everything must be adhered to from some stupid book – well, you know what, fuck off! Take your stupid book and bash it all you want, but get it the fuck out of my face, because I couldn’t give a shit if I upset you a little bit by laughing at you getting all hot and bothered over people poking fun at you and your imaginary best friends.

It’s a free world – if this newspaper insulted you, don’t buy it. If these cartoonists offended you, walk away, or even better, stand up for your beliefs and criticise them right back – free speech gives you that right!

Threatening to kill people who criticise your beliefs is the height of backward thinking stupid fundamentalism. If your beliefs are SO great, then they’d be self-evidently correct to almost everyone alive. Why is it that you brainwashed bastards can’t even consider the possibility that you MIGHT be wrong? Why do you cling so tightly to the delusions of some “prophet” from thousands of years ago?

You are entitled to your own stupid beliefs, but where the line stops is where you try and silence others who speak out against you. By all means speak out against them in return, but you DO NOT silence people in a free society. If you hate Western society so much that you feel compelled to change it to fit your own image, fucking leave and form your thought-policed religious utopia somewhere else!!

No wonder there is so much war when stupid religious fanatics (of all religions) can’t even take a bit of criticism and insults of their beliefs! Religion is fucking stupid, and so are it’s followers. Anyone stupid enough to believe in that shit in this day and age deserves to be ridiculed to the extreme, and a good thing too!

I’m an atheist – go ahead and insult my beliefs, call me a son of a whore, I couldn’t give two shits, because unlike you insecure religious goons, I’m perfectly comfortable with my beliefs and justifying them (if I feel the urge to) in the face of criticism. I couldn’t give a shit if you think my beliefs are stupid – I’m just going to ignore you, or maybe if you have something good to say, I’ll listen and decide for myself.

The world does not revolve around you or your imaginary friend, however many of you morons believe in it. Why are you so intent on *making* other people believe the same shit as you? It just doesn’t work like that – people are free, and their minds are free too. If someone doesn’t want to believe what you believe – say “good day” and let them get on with their own life.

If a set of beliefs cannot stand up to some criticism on it’s own, without all it’s followers crapping their pants with rage in order to defend it, I can only conclude that it’s a crappy belief system that is so obviously flawed that this type of extreme hysterical protection is required in order to prevent it being torn to shreds by logical debate. (This is the same approach used by Scientologists, who are also full of shit.)

I can’t stand Christianity, but even their beliefs are able to weather a heavy battering from cheeky atheists having a laugh at their expense. Why should Islam be any different? Just get over yourselves already! Your backward beliefs don’t entitle you to any special treatment when it comes to freedom of speech and the right to criticise and insult you and the moronic crap you believe in.

If you want more tolerance of Islam, take the first step and be more tolerant of it’s critics and prepared to engage them in meaningful debate. Or, like all ancient and stupid religions, be consigned to the dustbin of history as the world moves on and leaves you eating dust.

Quite frankly, I can’t wait for the day when followers of all religions massacre each other to the point of extinction, leaving the rest of us who couldn’t give a shit about some pretend god to get on and live this single life that we DO know we have in peace.

Your beliefs suck, so kindly keep them to yourselves!!

  19. cbk says:

  20. Do I get a fatwah for this? says:

Sorry to pick on one person here, but this is exactly the kind of nonsense I’m talking about:

Rafi Khan: “…coz West will atleast try to know islam and noone can deny that its a true religion, which teaches love for everyone.”

Oh sure, love for everyone except the infidel kaffir… you sure hate us and our women (who dress like whores, apparently)! Oh, and Christians, they seem to get on your nerves a bit too. Not to mention Jews. Hindus as well for that matter – yep, I remember seeing some big punch-ups between Hindus and Muslims while at university. Sikhs? Buddhists? I dunno, perhaps what you’re trying to say is that Islam has love for everyone, as long as they are Islamic too?

Let’s not even get started on the way many religions openly preach hatred towards gay people!!

Here you go again: “If only the non believers of islam try to find more about our beloved prophet, they will change their minds and convert to Islam.”

Hate to break this to you bub, but that’s not going to happen EVER! Some of us have no need to “convert” to any set of beliefs or other – we quite like our freedom to adapt and choose as we go along. You are welcome to love your prophet, but at the same time, you gotta accept that I am never going to care what he supposedly said or did.

Atheism is such total freedom, there is no way I would ever enslave myself to organised religion again. No gods, no masters, no problem. I have a brain and I’m quite happy to use it, without having to consult some book for moral guidance on things I’m perfectly capable of being autonomous over.

Once more again: “Islam will prevail , no matter what happens.”

Unless it adapts to a changing world, the only place it will prevail is on the pages of a history book.

Last one: “Justice will be done for the ones making fun of Islam.”

It IS perfectly just to make fun of Islam – indeed, it is necessary for Islam’s survival! (How will you convert people if you don’t understand what they currently believe?) That you can’t accept this only goes to show how warped your perception of reality is. I’d suggest opening your eyes for once and realising that variety is the spice of life.

You have your beliefs, I have mine – we all win! That is, unless if your beliefs compel you to try and force me to agree with you, but I’d sooner die a gruesome death than be forced into the slavery worshipping your imaginary god.

Tales of hell and so on don’t scare me either – a religion worth following would not seek to control it’s followers with fear of eternal punishment, and even if that were to turn out to be true, at least I would have made the most of my time on Earth by not wasting it sucking up to some vain, malicious, vengeful, spiteful god.

I do not believe god exists, and even if he does, I couldn’t care less. The only type of god I would be prepared to accept is one who judges all fairly on personal merit alone – I believe I would pass that test, since I always act in kindness and compassion. If that is not enough on it’s own, then this god is open to flattery, corrupt and unjust, and thus not worthy of any worship.

You will never change my mind by force – only by HARD PROOF and giving me a FREE CHOICE in the matter. Get used to it, because brainwashing is SO pre-historic. I do not need to change my mind, until such time as I decide that I wish to.

You have to respect relegions they guided your family they guided civilizations with some contridictions in it and insimilarites but the issue in general is common, it is to guide people for a better life. Not to drink to much not to sleep with ur mother not to kill ur dad, it is a guide for us. Again for the danish guy who was talkin i already gave an example of insulting the pope and draw him as a slut for instance, i swear the world would get crazy. I recall when an American singer once taired or throw the picture of the pope, after that literally her carrier was over they screwed her. So please do not justify what the danish painter did as much as we do not justify the threats givin by some muslim fanatics. On the contrary our relegion is a forgiving relegion but we can not forgive that one easiely because if this one passed it will open a door on insulting islam everyday because of some islamic fanatics who do not reflect the real islamic world.

  34. Richard says:

haha – half the messages here are written in the same style. Whoever you are you have too much time on your hands.

Far too much hate here on both sides.

  35. walaa says:

    Peace be upon u all…

Peace is the first word we say when we greet other people, a thing which if you really consider will know that our religion Islam is a religion of peace and not a religion of neither barbarism or terrorism. However, how could you know such a thing; you who receive any information from anyone no matter who he might be and just take it for granted without making sure of it while we Muslims (who have as one of the people alleged on this site have 95% illiterate – for God’s sake who could you tell this) examine whatever information we get before reacting to it. Have any of you ever tried to log onto an Islamic site such as http://www.amrkhaled.net to know things about Islam before attacking it. I doubt!

“The newspaper said it printed the cartoons as a test of whether Muslim fundamentalists had begun affecting the freedom of expression in Denmark.” Very well, isn’t that an explicit admission that the paper was aiming from the very beginning to provoke Muslims worldwide and not only in Denmark. “Muslim fundamentalists”, what does this expression mean to you? How many of you in the West know about Islam or fundamentalism? How come you relate Islam to terrorism? On what basis? What’s your justification? Why all the West now is against Islam and Muslims in such a way? Why do you fight us? Are you done with all your domestic issues and now turn to reform the world? Why do you deliberately insist on provoking Muslims by presenting pictorial illustrations of our Prophet – may peace be upon him? Do you know him? Have you heard about him? Why do you consider him an enemy?

You even made fun of us saying “Apparently Islam forbids the pictorial representation of the prophet. That means that Muslims shouldn’t draw him… doesn’t it?” Apparently, you say “we are not Muslims, so we are free to do so. To hell Muslims with your Islamic teachings” Isn’t that the case? Have you ever thought why we – MUSLIMS – don’t reply following the same way by making pictorial representation of Jesus – may peace be upon him? It’s because our religion is a civilized one that respects others’ religions and beliefs? It’s part of our creed to equally respect and believe in other messengers and prophets as is the case with our Prophet – may peace be upon him.

By the way, one of you said “So if you’re not allowed to draw, paint, or otherwise represent Mohammed… how do the complainants know that the cartoonists have drawn Mohammed, as opposed to just a random Arab man of the period?” To him I say, have you seen the cartoons. They are not only against our teachings but also they represent our Prophet as a terrorist. Of course Prophet Muhammad didn’t look like this because we have a description of how he looked, but the issue here is why he was related to terrorists and bombs. If someone illustrates you, any of your family, or even your president, king or queen in such a way, wouldn’t you feel deeply hurt?

Finally, I’d just like to add Accept for others what you accept for yourself. Respect others, they will respect you. Practice your freedom without violating others’ freedom, they will respect this freedom.

  36. Marie says:

Hey everyone…(yes, EVERYONE) can’t you just agree that people feel differently on certain subjects? If the other party of the discussion get personal on you, why then be above it. Don’t let it hit you. It is a fundamental rule of conflict-solving and anger management.
I for one, am a Dane and angry muslims can burn my countrys flag all they like. It is not that I think it is very pleasant, but if they really feel they need it, sure go ahead. It is a symbol of my nation true enough, but it’s still just made of cloth, so nobody gets physically hurt. I understand that according to muslim values this shows me for being a weakling with no real values. I am sorry if that is the case, but there isn’t an awful lot I can do about it is there? So I won’t get angry about it.
Muhammed, however is not a flag, neither is he exactly made of cloth, but being that he is a spiritual idea and as a person has been dead for many a year, I doubt that he himself will be hurt. So Muhammed isn’t really the issue here, as much as the hurt spirituality of some folks who has a lot of their feelings invested in him – which I can only respect, even though my own cultural background does not allow me to understand it in full. Who am I to judge their right to be love their own prophet or be angry on his behalf?
I do not wish to be the judge of that… but I still wish that everyone would advocate peace instead of conflict.
Why is it that people always forget that wars start with words (or pictures)?
BUT AS LONG AS WE ARE STILL ON THE BASIS OF ‘JUST WORDS’ WE CAN PREVENT WAR!

Btw. keep the dutch out of it, the pictures are DANISH, not dutch. So go ahead and pick on us, but don’t pick on them plz.

  38. Bender says:

My ex was Dutch..so normally I hate you xxx.

  39. Bender says:

I always thought Danish ppl were nice.

    Swedish ppl are better.

  40. Muslim says:

Can you take a breath and think logically please? Any TRUE Christian knows quiet well that the Prophet Mohamed (PBEU) is mentioned in the GENUINE Bible as the last of Allah’s Prophets to earth, so why all the fuzz? Back to your minds please! Be true to yourselves first. Again, Muslims are far superior to all other people for nothing except that they respect all people of all religions. Muslims believe in Jesus and Moses just the same way as they believe in Mohamed. Do you Christians or Jewish believe in Mohamed? Here you can see the difference if you can see at all!

  41. John Oakes says:

Remember how the Nazis dealt with the Jews?
    Dreadful and apalling !!
Moslems are easier to spot and round up if ever fanatics like them take over in the west.
Perhaps soon when we no longer need the oil or their presence in the west .And they are even more of an insult to to ordinary working people some fanatic may come up with a final solution for Islam.
I am glad I will be dead and gone before these things come to pass.
With weapons of mass destruction it would only take an afternnon for the sons of the prophet to be no more.
Perhaps we should see sense BEFORE these things happen.

  42. Rockjaw says:

At the end of the day the whole mob of you arseholes. Sure, some are Muslim, some are Christian and some are even Jewish and Hindu etc, but Arseholse nonetheless.

Get your act together, all of you. If the South Africans could do it over racial issues then hell, why can’t you mob of bums do it?

  43. P8r says:

Why cant we all just get along?
Leave these historic writings for what they are and think for yourself , please.
    Education is the key people.

  44. Sax says:

Practically every other non-muslim race or nation is at war with a muslim nation.

But guess who kill more muslims than anyone else?… Muslims do!

Muslims need to learn peace and all muslims should preech it before anything else.

  45. Marie says:

    hear hear

  46. Anders Hald Nielsen says:

Does there exist any thing as an objective mental picture of Jesus or Muhammed? I guess not! Not even amongst christians or muslims who considers themselves to be true believers of their religion – is their a single true mental picture. The pictures og Jesus or Muhammed are developing in our minds as we speak and as we experience what is happening around us.

The picture of Muhammed with a bomb in his turban is true in the sense that we, people in the west, sometimes get the feeling that thats the kind of prophet the theorists believe in – when they are standing in front of a TV-camera with a maschine gun i the one hand and the koran in the other – ready to commit suicide and kill others in the name of Allah. BUT that doesn’t mean that that we believe, that every muslim believes in such a kind of Muhammed! Like the name of the article said, in which the cartoons appeared – Muhammed has different faces, deppending on who you are, and who or what you are focusing on.

OR -to put it in an other way – every body is allowed to draw Muhammed or Jesus just the way they wantntthink is apropriat .

  47. Bruce (UK) says:

Thank GOD (sic) for the internet! Try as they might, Christians and Muslims cannot stop free speech here!

People have been using “Jesus Christ” as a swear word for decades. There are countless jokes about God and even the Pope!

Muslim people need to simply shrug it off. If their religion is so great, then it wouldn’t matter what anyone said or drew about it.

  48. rania says:

i can see alot of comment some of which i agree with some of which just amazes me …freedom it seems that some few understand the meaning of freedom,
freedom is there for you to practice it thats true but your freedom ends when other’s freedom begines or we will end up living in forest like animals….r
religion is the reason of humanity without religion there would be no civilized sociaty or whatever you call it.
now for those who gives statistics and big bold facts about islam plz know islam and what is it about before u do,cuz it makes you loook ignorant…..im not here to adhvertise to isalm im no perfect muslim i do things that are worng i wish i was strong enough to apply isalm as it is ..and everybody else it wouldve been heaven pn earth.
im a woman and im here to tell you there is nothing in isalm that disrespects women or take her as less of a man…..i fullly have the freedom of anyother muslim man….
the relatiom between us is based upon respect , so for those of you who claims to be the voice of women plz taKE A MINUTE AND THINK AND KNOW MORE.
i dont want the freedom to be raped or harassed or used,i want the freeedom to be taken as a fully thinking human not as brainless body….we have many great women in our history with great works .
nw our love for our prophet comes from the sacrifices he did to show us the way and i cant seee how drawing him will make him real foe those who finds it important to have a picture of him …he left a legacy to live y not an album to show, wat use is it of making fun of our prophet…just think it throw…
if it hurts other people then why do it .there isnt enough place here to put everything in mind on screen but i hope you find it in hearts and minds to show us the respect we show you which isalm asked us to show.
thank u and god forgive you.

This forum needs a few laughs. How about a few jokes?

Jesus dies and goes up to Heaven. The first thing he does is look for his father, as he has never met the man before and is curious as to what he looks like, and whether or not Jesus looks like his mother or father, etc. He looks high and low but cannot find him.

He asks St. Peter “Where is my father?” But St. Peter says he doesn’t know.

He asks the archangel Gabriel “Where is my father?” But Gabriel doesn’t know.

He asks John the Baptist “Where is my father?” But John does not know. So he wanders Heaven, impatiently searching.

Suddenly he sees out of the mist an old man coming toward him. The man is very old, with white hair, stooped over a little. “Stop!” Jesus yells. “Who are you?”

“Oh, please help me, I am an old man in search of my son.” Jesus is very curious. Could this be his father? “Tell me of your son, old man.”

“Oh, you would know him if you saw him. Holes in his hand where the nails used to be, he was nailed to a cross, you know…”

    “Father!” Screams Jesus.

    “Pinocchio!” yells the old man.
