Eurovision promotes Satanism (again)

The Swiss entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has been condemned by Christian fundamentalists for its allegedly satanic content (reports Swiss Info).

DJ Bobo’s Vampires are Alive is “an affront to religous convictions” according to Thomas Feuz, the head of the Federal Democratic Union’s petition committee.

The song is bad from our point of view. We have nothing against DJ Bobo but he song has a destructive meaning and we want it stopped

The song is bad from many points of view, and some Swiss-German radion stations are refusing to play it simply because it is rubbish. The FDU’s position, however, is that Eurovision has increasingly become a platform for “the occult and Satanists”. Their petition garnered 49,082 signatures.

MWW has risked its soul and transcribed the lyrics for you to read – if you dare!

Vampires are alive.
They just have to survive.
We’ll never come undone,
And we will be forever young.

(Vampires get alive)

I am a vampire; I’m a slave.
I sleep through the daylight, hence: my grave
In the darkness, in the shadows… here I am!
I want you to be forever mine,
To “gather” until the end of time
Like a nightmare, never ending.
Let me change your world!

(Chorus)

Tonight is the night let a thousand years.
Don’t be scared. Don’t drown in tears.
Free your spirit after midnight;
Sell your soul. Let it go
From heaven to hell, and enjoy the ride.
You’re here to surrender with your life.
Precious victims, my desire: live eternally!

(Chorus)

We’re off to sacrifice a goat…

Anybody else think that John Beyer was petitioning the wrong country ?

  2. Stuart says:

I like it when they claim they have “nothing against”, before descibing EXACTLY what they have against himherit.
Marilyn Manson’s Holy Wood would give them coronaries.

  3. Andrew Nixon says:

Surely our entry is much more evil than that?

  4. Nick says:

I don’t see the problem. I’ve always regarded Eurovision as pure Satanic evil.

  5. Is anyone else becoming a bit nostalgic for Lordi?

  6. I’m becoming nostalgic for Abba.

  7. Tiger Dunc says:

Apparently if you say play this song backwards it says “We love Jesus. Jesus is Lord”.

  8. martyn says:

Ahhh, but they’re not specific about which jesus, and I think you’ll find jack is lord :)

  9. Martin says:

I was quite shocked when those uncouth animals won last year, especially when they blasphemed against out Lord. I expect they’re only won because they sacrificed a goat before the contest. Please bring back Cliff.
Oh, hold on a minute. Didn’t someone tell me he was gay?

  10. Martin says:

Why doesn’t my post work if I write Geller in the URI box?

I love Lordi. I doubt the entry this year is a satanist. But even if they are, what does it matter? This is a music show. Showing the most popular music. I’m sorry if Christian hymns aren’t popular, but you can’t force other people to change. I am no satanist, but I understand them and share some of their views. There is no reason to be prejudiced (and hey, isn’t that anti-christian to be prejudiced?)
