How were the cartoons suggesting all muslims are violent? One showed Mohammad in a pose suggesting terrorism but most just showed him in a less than complimentary fashion. If I published a picture of a football fan shouting abuse it may suggest some football fans shout abuse, but not all of them. Although I suppose you could infer that all those attending religious services had a less than healthy grasp of reality.

Dan, as the other Andrew also says, suggesting that all Muslims are violent is simply not racist. Muslims are not a race. Muslims come from many different races.

The Danish cartoons were a bit low-brow and possibly ill-judged, but criicising an ideolgy made up of a billion people around the globe is not racist. It clearly says ‘racial hatred’ in the report about the London demonstration as well. Neither incident was racist. It appears so obvious to me, that it baffles me how no else seems worried by the fact that criticising an ideology you don’t agree with can make you a racist.

According to the angry wing of the Muslim community this is another attempt to “oppress” Muslims for “speeking out against racism”.
Absoloute bollox! Muslims and everyone else are perfectly entitled to speek out against racism but what they are NOT entitled to do is call for violence and for people to be killed.
I agree with those who say the Danish cartoons had a racist tone about them (they were suggesting all Muslims are violent) but some Muslims have played into the hands of that racism by holding up placards such as “BEHEAD THOSE WHO INSULT ISLAM!” and “BOMB BOMB DENMARK!”
These men overstepped the mark and their protest turned to insighting violence. That is why they are going to jail.

Andrew – well, for 3 of them at least it was simple incitement to commit murder (or something very similar), no question of race or whatever…(as the “kill those who insult isla st. clair” banner in the picture might suggest…!

These people are obviously idiots, but as far as I know they didn’t say anything racist?
Their ideolgy is very childish to put it lightly, but unless they have said something specific about other races they haven’t said anything racist. It just makes it easier for medievel pricks to call people like me racist when I criticise their fascist way of life if we’re jailing these mugs for being ‘racist’.
