I think a lot of you here have missed the point... I don't think this issue has anything to do with Islam or the Muslim world, I think this is a very secular and western demand. Of course freedom of speech is the backbone of any true western democracy, but just how the western press has the freedom to say or print whatever i deems, relatives of Mohammed have the right to demand an apology or sue for defamation... This is a Western legal concept which, correct me if I am wrong, does not really exist in Saudi or the Muslim world..

I personally don't think the cartoons are a big deal, in fact they weren't even funny... you want to see funny watch South Parks episode on the three religions. Plus I think everyone should just relaxe...

[...] Not for the first time, the lawyers are getting involved: “Faizal A.Z. Yamani of the Jeddah-based legal firm A.Z. Yamani sent a letter to about a dozen newspaper editors, insisting that they print apologies in Danish, English, Arabic and French, and to undertake never to print the cartoon again. He also ordered all the cartoons to be removed from the internet in perpetuity.” [MWW] [...]

The audacity of these lawyers is just incredible and the thought that they expect the world to comply doesn't say much for their intelligence...but then Islam is primitive and backward....like its followers!

Demands? Pfft...if you've got a subpoena, then serve it!

Demands don't mean crap - even if they /do/ come from lawyers under the influence of theism.

I really wish there were a campaign somewhere to just republish this thing everywhere, over and over, until they finally get the idea that you can't censor the world - so stop trying.

The best and most obvious response would be to publish them all again.
