Gleefully waiting for the backlash on this, Sarah Silverman’s latest inspired idea:

Either you’ll know what I’m talking about or you won’t, but who else thought of ‘Heroes’ when they read that title?

  2. kevin says:

    it a good idea

Brilliant idea but of course as we all know they’ll never do it! Priorities, priorites….

  4. Not only is it brilliant, but I’m sure God & Son would approve wholeheartedly.

If Vatican sold the works of art and archeology in it museums the Italian state should nationalize them as they belong in a public museum. They are part of the culture heritage of Italy and the world and have no value. Should the US empty its museums to pay its debt, should The national Portrait gallery be sold to pay for NHS? It’s content sold to rich Russians who would keep the works of art away from public view. I’m not a defender of the catholic church but I can still appreciate the marvels of its art collections.

I suggest the point being made by Ms Silverman is that the vatican, along with most other mainstream religions, are very wealthy and own a lot of property and land, their leaders enjoy a lavish lifestyle, tax concessions etc.
The world’s religions are quick to grab cash from the gullible – which they spend on evangelising their bigotry – but reluctant to pass the money to the poor.

Yes Angela, and the Catholic Church also claim to be the sole representatives on Earth of that guy Jesus Christ who specifically and unambiguously told them to do precisely that. Sell all you have and give it to the poor. Surely Christians in general and Catholics in particular should be saying “Who are you to lecture me on what Christ says that I should or should not do? You can’t even live up to his instructions yourself you hypocrite.”
