More lunacy from Macho George

Ekklesia today carries an investigative article on “Macho” George Hargreaves’ Scottish Christian Party (see Christians are the new Jews below). As well as revealing the extreme right wing policies of the party, the article gives a couple of hilarious examples of Hargreaves’ unhingedness.

He’s against over-fishing controls because there is “a supernatural element in the restoration of fish to our seas”; and he believes “Wales has been under demonic oppression and under many curses because of this unwise choice” – of the dragon as its national symbol!

UPDATE: (5 May) Deborah Orr draws attention to an interesting part of the SCP manifesto. Macho George, who wrote and produced the hit single “So Macho”, vows to extend the copyright laws so that royalty payments will be paid to producers on the same basis as currently enjoyed by songwriters. This is, undoubtedly, exactly what Jesus would have done.

I’m less and less sure now that this isn’t a spoof! It’s almost exactly what I’d say if I were making a spoof!

It’s a truly sad indictment that he regards we Scots to be particularly fertile ground for his particular brand of supernatural twaddle…

    ho hum.

    🙂

  3. Colin says:

Reading the article, he states that he would like to bring back transportation for convicted criminals. Where is he planning to send them?

  4. Andy A says:

‘Where is he planning to send them?’

I’m sure there’s a nice little Scottish island where they burn people in huge wicker effigies. Send them there.

As for our dragon, as a ‘naturalised Welshman’ I rather like it.

    It’s all happening…

Even Christian think-tank Ekklesias thinks that the Reverend Macho is off his head. Via mediawatchwatch. If you don’t want to read the whole thing, skip to the end, the last paragraph is simply wonderful. We got one of Macho’s leaflets…

AIDS bashing is just so last millennium. Like his christ!

Funny thing about that pesky sencond coming (re: 6). It was supposed to be 100 years after his death; then 1000 after his birth, then 2000 – and the bugger still isn’t here. You’d think they’d get a fucking clue!

The real problem (and it IS a real problem) with this type of loony is that they are extremely rich loonies. On polling this May 3rd some of us are going to show another hideously rich loony (and member of the CI, I believe) just what we think of him and his plans to educate very young children.
