Cambridge Theatre Street Vigils - Latest

There were seven of us at the vigil for last Friday night's performance of  Jerry Springer the Opera (see www.christianvoice.org.uk for background) at the Cambridge Theatre and four of us on Saturday night,.  Both vigils were truly blessed, with opportunities to evangelise.  I stood alone on Saturday afternoon, wondering if I was the only man in London who thought it was all worth the trouble, when David Soul, who plays Jerry Springer, walked up and briefly introduced himself.  No, I didn't ask for his autograph, and no, there was no time to share the Gospel with him.  But who knows what will happen this coming Saturday afternoon.

We shall be there this week God willing Wednesday evening at 6.45pm, Thursday evening at 6.45pm, Friday evening at 7.30pm, Saturday at 2.00pm and 7.00pm.  Each vigil lasts just an hour.  Thank you to those who have volunteered to lead (can anyone apart from me lead the Saturday afternoon?)  We hand out the 'Springer' leaflets to a mostly courteous audience.  We get asked directions to Covent Garden and we talk about the big questions of life at the slightest provocation!

Just to be certain, there will be a vigil, God willing of course, Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening 11th and 12th and 18th and 19th (final night, big rally) at the same times.  If there is also a vigil on any other night Monday to Thursday at 6.45pm next week and the week after, then that will be a bonus, so if your church or prayer group are so called, please let me know.  The venue is Cambridge Theatre, Earlham Street, WC2 9HU.   We can let you have a supply or the leaflets to hand out.  Just ring in the morning the day before at the lastest and they will go in the post to you.

Please understand that these vigils are not the time to be promoting your denomination or issues other than Jerry Springer the Opera.  We are going to meet in unity of spirit around the blessed and holy name of Jesus Christ alone, submitting to the leadership on the night.  The world will see a group of loving, disciplined people passionate about their Saviour and His Gospel,   The Theatre is on the corner of Earlham Street and Mercer Street at a roundabout known as Seven Dials.  The nearest tube is Covent Garden - walk up Neal St and then Earlham Street. Or from Leicester Square tube take the Covent Garden exit, cross to 'The Sussex' then continue up St Martin's Lane then Monmouth Street. Please continue to pray that despite the short notice for some, the Lord brings the right number of us out this Friday and Saturday and that numbers increase on the two weekends to the final night of 19th February.  And if you come, come prepared to receive God's blessing!  If you live too far away, cover us in prayer and be sure that if the autumn tour of 'Jerry Springer the Opera' is not cancelled, your turn will come!

Please also continue to pray for our criminal action against the BBC and the Theatre for blasphemy.  (This is not the 'judicial review' which another group are starting.)  Papers are being prepared right now.  Our solicitor, an evangelical Christian, needs to choose the right QC tonight or tomorrow to head up our legal team.  I shall be further in touch about that, God willing.  May God be praised for what He is going to do and for the souls who will be saved by His grace this weekend and the weekends following in Covent Garden.
