Cambridge Theatre Street Vigils - Going Ahead!

Every new performance of Jerry Springer the Opera (see www.christianvoice.org.uk for background) at the Cambridge Theatre in London's Earlham Street, WC2 9HU is a new offence of blasphemy, and a new cause of offence to our holy and Almighty God. Now knowing what JSTO entails, having watched it, I am burdened by the need to protest and evangelise at the Theatre. It is especially necessary to do so given the announcement that the 'show' is to close on 19th February and go on a UK tour, beginning in Manchester in October. We simply must send out a strong signal to theatre managers everywhere in the United Kingdom.

I still urgently need to hear from leaders prepared to share the load at the Cambridge. However, the Lord has told me clearly to make a decision, and this is it: God willing, there will there a vigil at the Cambridge Theatre every Friday evening from 7.30 to 8.30pm, every Saturday afternoon from 2.00 to 3.00pm and every Saturday evening from 7.00 to 8.00pm for the next four weekends until JSTO closes. These times coincide with the hour before each performance. The first vigil is tomorrow evening.  I know it is very short notice for this weekend, but the Lord will bring those He wants to be there.  Please don't email me to apologise for absence. It isn't necessary.  On the final night - 19th Feb - we shall hold a rally from 7.00pm until the show h ,closes at 10.30pm and we shall pray - and pledge - that it will not re-open anywhere else in the UK.

Please understand that these vigils are not the time to be promoting your denomination or issues other than Jerry Springer the Opera.  We are going to meet in unity of spirit around the blessed and holy name of Jesus Christ alone, submitting to the leadership on the night.  The world will see a group of loving, disciplined people passionate about their Saviour and His Gospel,   The Theatre is on the corner of Earlham Street and Mercer Street at a roundabout known as Seven Dials.  The nearest tube is Covent Garden - walk up Neal St and then Earlham Street. Or go up St Martin's Lane from Leicester Square tube then continue up Monmouth Street. If there are those who can share with leading the vigils, please will they let me know ASAP. Covent Garden is quite a long way from Carmarthen. I'll do it if no-one else will, but there must be God-fearing leaders in London prepared to lead a street vigil of praise, prayer and evangelism The evangelism is very much on my heart, and we have special well-designed tracts centering on 'Springer' and leading to the GospelIf you love talking to people about the saving grace of Jesus, you will want to be there!   Please don't hesitate to phone or email me if you are called to lead or just to witness. If your church is led to go during the week, Monday to Thursday, at 6.45 for the 7.45pm starts as well, then fine. We can let you have a supply or the leaflets to hand out. May God go before us as we stand up for the precious name of our Lord and Saviour.

What our God did on the night Jerry Springer the Opera was shown on BBC2 on 8th January was amazing.  1500 Christians came out on the streets all over the UK, standing up for Jesus.  A newsman said our vigil outside Television Centre itself was a cross between a protest and a revivalist meeting!  He was right!  And well done, Essex Christians for making a point outside Chelmsford Cathedral last Sunday when some of the 'Springer' cast sang there for charity, as if butter wouldn't melt in their mouths.  Tonight they are back singing blasphemy in the Cambridge Theatre.

Please pray that despite the short notice for some, the Lord brings the right number of us out this Friday and Saturday and that numbers increase every Friday and Saturday from then to the final night of 19th February.  And if you come, come prepared to receive God's blessing!  If you live too far away, cover us in prayer and be sure that if the autumn tour of 'Jerry Springer the Opera' is not cancelled, your turn will come!

Please pray for our criminal action against the BBC and the Theatre for blasphemy.  (This is not the 'judicial review' which another group are starting.)  Papers are being prepared right now. I shall be further in touch about that, God willing.  May God be praised for what He is going to do and for the souls who will be saved by His grace this weekend and the weekends following in Covent Garden.
