Another pop star gets prosecuted in Poland

Better known as “Doda”, she gave a TV interview last year in which she said of the Bible:
it is hard to believe in something written by people who drank too much wine and smoked herbal cigarettes.
This was too much for the chairman of the whacky APCDAS, Ryszard Nowak:
It is clear that Doda thinks that the Bible was written by drunkards and junkies. […]
I believe that she committed a crime and offended the religious feelings of both Christians and Jews.
If convicted, Doda faces up to two years in prison. Her fiancé Nargal is currently still on trial.

Nice to see at least one Pole making an intelligent contribution to religious understanding.
I always liked the late John Allegro’s take on this – that the original Jesus cult was a bunch of folk on magic mushrooms, and indeed that what is now taken for ‘Jesus’ or ‘Jahweh’ was just a mistranslation of a word for shrooms!
Sadly, a fairly reliable theologian told me Allegro’s whole approach (he also maintained the bishop’s mitre was just a left over pagan symbol of the penis) might be nothing more than mischief-making after being passed over for an academic post he’d set his heart on.
Still, very funny!
